Расстроенный в лучших чувствах поклонник Ван Личина завел новую тему. Первый пост этой темы я и хотел бы здесь процитировать.

Topic: I'm not the greatest because titles mean nothing
My name is Wang Liqin. I don't smoke or drink in excess. I'm not a gambler. I am fairly quiet off the court and I don't show off. I just go about my business quietly winning titles. I've won more international tournaments and more world championships than anyone in the modern era, but I'm not the greatest because I'm from China and I'm actually too perfect. I'm not European and I don't have any technical flaws like Liu Guoliang or that viking from Sweden. I'm just keep winning because nobody can find any significant weakness in my game. For that I'm not the greatest, I'm second to all those with lesser titles or abilities because they had more personality or they were European.
In fact, I win so much that people have gotten bored by it. That viking guy only has a few wins against my current and former teammates but of course he's much better than them because he shockingly upset them in a couple of tournaments. I beat them all the time but because I decimate them so often it's become commonplace. I beat every style. I don't have problems with pips out players like that viking guy.
Now that I'm no longer the most dominant player in the world - I'm "only" top 5 - people think I suck. They think I'm washed up. The bar is set higher for me than everyone else. Maybe I should retire from table tennis. Even if I won 4 world championships and a gold medal everyone would still think that some viking is better. I guess discrimination is still a big problem in this world...

Попозже я попытаюсь опубликовать перевод. К сожалению язык оригинала весьма хорош, и лично мне адекватно перевести все это на русский будет непросто.
